Manufacturing Process Technician

Summary:

Under moderate occasional supervision, perform technical test and experiments for process in the assigned manufacturing area. Set up, monitor, schedule, adjust and operate manufacturing equipment as required.  Timely execution of identified projects aimed at improving the overall performance of the manufacturing area.

Will assist in the training of manufacturing technicians; Disposition of material on hold. Interface with Process Control, Process Engineering and Equipment Engineering to avoid process deviations or correct them. Make process or procedure changes which will result in the following Line Performance Enhancement: (1) Cycle time reduction; (2) Line yield improvement, (3) Functional probe improvement, (4) Process capability improvement. Work on assignments that are complex in nature where independent action and decision making, and a high degree of initiative, are required in resolving problems and development recommendations. 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical process direction in assigned manufacturing area.
  • Responsible for training entry level technicians and providing technical direction to other technicians as needed.
  • Solve complex and technical problems and understand the effect of decisions on all related area.
  • Disposition of material on hold.
  • Perform technical test and experiments for processes in the wafer fabrication area.
  • Set up, schedule, adjust and operate manufacturing equipment.
  • Monitor, audit and provide guidance to manufacturing operators, production technicians and other process technicians.
  • Present to supervisor or engineering identified yield problems.
  • May provide routine equipment maintenance and direct interface with equipment support group.
  • May assist in the training and re-testing of manufacturing operators and technicians.
  • Interface with Process Control and supervision personnel.
  • Read product specifications and keep records of activities performed.
  • May have lead responsibilities.
  • Make analysis of chronic problems and works to eliminate them.
  • Update process specifications.
  • Inspect material to verify quality of product.
  • Act to determine methods and procedures on new assignments.
  • Assist in evaluation and recommendations of new manufacturing procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Electronics, Physics, Chemistry or equivalent technical education.
  • Three (3) years of semiconductor manufacturing experience. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Good knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Good knowledge of computer terminals and software programs.
  • Good knowledge of manufacturing specifications compliance and record keeping.
  • Good knowledge of manufacturing testing and training relative to operators and technicians.
  • Good knowledge of SPC, related principles and applications.
  • Skill in reading and interpreting product specification.
  • Skill in performing advanced math and algebraic calculations.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Good Interpersonal and human relation skills; a team player.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to apply SPC concept.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering documents (SPR’s).
  • Ability to read, comprehend and follow verbal or written instructions.
  • Ability to operate various manufacturing equipment items. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in a Class 10 clean room environment requiring special safety attire (smock, safety gloves, face shields, etc.).
  • May be exposed to or be required to handle hazardous chemicals.
